In my art practice I explore themes of connection, community and everyday moments as a way of understanding life, experiences and memories. I am passionate about the process of the handmade and creating pieces that have signs of human hands and the making process.


Connection is the building block of life, it is the core of relationships and it can be found in different spaces and moments. The act of sitting around a table and sharing food is one that resonates strongly with the idea of seeking connection. The primary colours of red, blue and yellow are utilised to reflect the inherent nature of humans to seek out relationships and connection.

What happens when we allow ourselves to do things simply for the sake of joy? Too often we feel as though the things we do must be done for a purpose, that they must be productive. But when we allow ourselves to engage with things that simply bring us joy we start to appreciate life, see the beauty in the everyday and provide hope in times of despair.

Murmuration is starlings’ way of protecting themselves from predators, by moving as a group they become a harder target. Does this not reflect what we as humans do when we build community?These murmurations have no leader and they follow no plan, rather they coordinate their movements by observing what the others are doing around them. A beautiful lesson for humans to be aware of those around us and to work together to create safety, peace and community.

So often we let the intricacies and details of life slip past us, consumed in our busy lives we forget to look closely at things, to see the hidden details and appreciate the beauty this world has to offer. When we take the time to slow down and see the beauty of the world we realise the patterns and intricacies all around us that we’ve simply forgotten to look at. These dishes serve as a reminder to slow down, to simplify our lives and to notice again.

This work abstractly explores the feeling of living free from expectations and societal pressures. This work’s title refers to the idea of saying to those who impose ideals and expectations to simply ‘let us live’, to let us live we were created and intended.
